Here are some noticeable patterns in the maps below:
The decreases in the population of 30 to 44 year olds is, for the most part, evenly distributed across much of England and Wales. In London however the decreases are mainly concentrated in the South-East – especially the male population.
– This decrease in the population of the 30 to 44 age range in the South-East is offset by the increase in population for the age group in Tower Hamlets.
– The population of females aged 65 and over decreased in 18 Boroughs and the City of London between 2001 and 2011.
– For both the male and female groups aged 65 and over Barking and Dagenham had the greatest decrease in population – not only in London but for the rest of England and Wales as well.
– The largest increase in population of any age group in England and Wales is that of males aged 15 to 29 in Newham.
– In the 45 to 64 age range only the City of London showed any decrease in female population over the ten year period.
